Dog Trainer
Kate grew up in West Texas and went to college at the University of North Texas in Denton. She graduated in 2003. Kate has always loved animals, especially dogs. After college, she knew at some point she wanted one in her life.
Kate started her training journey after getting her first puppy, a blue heeler mix she named Sophie, in 2007. Kate really enjoyed the process of teaching Sophie new tricks and behaviors. This ignited her interest in dog training and animal behavior.
Kate became an honors graduate of Animal Behavior College in 2009. She began to take on a variety of jobs and positions within the pet industry, gathering experience in doggie daycare, training facilities, pet sitting, and graduated from dog*biz’s Dog Walking Academy in 2014. She spent six months training in New York City, walking dogs and developing skills for one-on-one training sessions as well as group classes. Kate focuses on puppy training and development. She successfully completed the Karen Pryor Puppy Start Right instructor training course in 2014.
Kate continued to train and learn new techniques whilst working for Frito-Lay. In 2021, she wanted to focus again on helping families and their dogs enjoy better lives! She then found and joined Fido’s Finest, after becoming acquainted with Casandra and Marne. She resides in McKinney with her husband, Scott, and Sophie, who is now 15 years old. Kate expects Sophie will start driving next year. š
